Kelly: Tracks of my years

As one-third of Destiny’s Child, Kelly Rowland sold more than 30 million albums. Away from the band - who finally called it a day FOUR years ago - Kelly has enjoyed solo success with a brace of albums and a Grammy award-winning single with rapper Nelly.

Now 28, she’s currently in the UK top ten with her song with David Guetta, When Love Takes Over - a former Number 1.

THE TRACK I WAKE UP TO

Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough Michael Jackson (1979)

This was from his Off The Wall album, and it’s a great way to start the day. I love Michael Jackson, but I also like Sade and jazz first thing in the morning. I quite like to wake up to a little peace and quiet, too.
THE FIRST TRACK I REMEMBER

How Deep Is Your Love The Bee Gees (1977)

My mum used to listen to a radio station in Houston, and they always played the Bee Gees. I’m a huge fan of theirs - Destiny’s Child did a remake of Emotion and we got to meet them. They were great guys.

MY DRIVING SONG

Kiss Of Life Sade (1992)

I love The Sweetest Taboo as well - Sade is unique, she has a style that’s totally her own. You can usually find me listening to Sade when I’m out driving. I have a truck - I’m a Texan girl!

THE SONG THAT SUMS UP MY LIFE

I hope You Dance Lee Ann Womack (2000)

It’s not actually about dancing, the words are more about ‘I hope you live your life to the full’. It’s about living, and it’s a great song.

THE TRACK I WORK OUT TO

World Hold On Bob Sinclar (2006)

Music like this just makes you move - hear this and it’s not possible to stay still. Which reminds me: I really need to get back to the gym.

MY HAIRBRUSH SONG

I Will Always Love You Whitney Houston (1992)

How many hairbrush divas must say this is their track? I can’t claim to sing it well because I just like to scream it.

THE LAST TRACK I DOWNLOADED

Gimme More Britney Spears (2007)

I think Britney’s got everything it takes to make it big all over again. This would be my sexy dance song, too - something to give a nice little booty shake to.
