LeToya interview with Examiner.com

LeToya Luckett is gearing up to release her sophomore effort on August 25th titled Lady Love. With a new album comes new opportunities; one including starring roles in not one but two films.

In a recent interview with the Houston-native, LeToya discussed the new album, movie projects, potential R&B pairings, and says that she would not mind doing a duet with Beyonce.

Q: Let’s talk about Lady Love. What can the fans expect to hear on the album?
A: “I worked with a lot of writers and producers like Ne-Yo who did my first single “Not Anymore”. I also worked with Ryan Leslie, Estelle,Ludacris, Marsha Ambrosius [Floetry], and Tank did like 3 records on the album. It’s [Lady Love] is going make you fall in and out of love, I’ll just say that.”

Q: The trailer for Preacher’s Kid has been released starring you. Tell us a little bit about your role in the movie.
A: “I play Angie who is the preacher’s daughter. She lost her mom at a very young age so it’s just her and her father. She doesn’t really have a life outside the church’s walls, her father is very, very over protective. She wants to sing, she wants a singing career but all she does is lead choirs and teach Sunday school. A gospel stage play comes into Atlanta where she’s from and she goes and is taken by how they are saving people and preaching the gospel. So she gets excited, gets the part and everything starts to go down hill from there. She does this all against her father’s will.”

Q: Who were your musical influences growing up?
A: “Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, I could keep on going.”

Q: If you had the chance to remake a classic R&B song, which one would it be?
A: “Michael Jackson’s “I’ll Be There” and “Human Nature.”

Q: Are there any male singers you would be interested in doing a duet with?
A: “I love Mario’s voice.”

Q: And female duets?
A: I love Keri Hilson and Estelle. Me and Estelle collaborated on my album but she raps on the album.

Q: Would you be interested in doing a duet with Beyonce?
A: I wouldn’t mind it at all.

LeToya has just wrapped up a bus tour with radio show host Russ Parr where she performed with Bobby V., new group Rich Girl, rapper Hurricane Cris and Ace Hood among others. In addition to her film Preachers Kid (that is due is theaters October 30th), promoting her album, and running two Houston-area boutiques (Lady Elle); LeToya is set to star along side Grey Anatomy’s Katherine Heigl in their new film Five Killers. The film will hit theaters in 2010 by way of Lionsgate.

LeToya’s album Lady Love is scheduled for an August 25th release.
